- I thought that I would post my solution to the problem of starting SS with
- the otherwise lovely Blizzard 1230. This used to result in either the
- well known endless reset, or the instant invalidation of my workbench
- partition (too painful to do on a regular basis even if SS would run
- after validation). Hope it's useful.
-
- First: Get Macmem from Aminet (misc/emu). It doesn't work for me by
- itself, but stops the endless reboot that results from using PrepareEmul
- alone.
- Second: Boot with both mouse buttons pressed & select Boot with no
- startup-sequence.
- Third: Copy macmem & prepareemul to ram: & make a script that contains:
- ram:macmem
- ram:prepareemul A1200
- Fourth: Call it 'Mac' & type 'protect mac +s'. Copy the file to disk for
- use the next time you want SS.
- Fifth: type ram:mac
-
- Hey presto! Chip RAM set aside, no disk invalidation and the A1200 will
- boot from HD as usual.
-
- I've actually put most of the above into scripts on my machine, so it's
- pretty transparent (apart from the early startup, but since I have a load
- of startup-sequences for different uses I don't really notice).
